The Chess House Story
In the last 4 years, Yash & Shiv have left no stone unturned in making their vision for Chess House come true. Patients have witnessed the huge amount of transformation the practice has seen in the last few years. In 2021, they have seen one of their biggest dreams take form: that of expanding Chess House from a 4-surgery to a 7-surgery multidisciplinary practice, providing all treatments under one roof.
The practice has not only evolved in terms of surgeries but is now equipped with the latest technology, intraoral cameras, intraoral scanners, digital smile design and microscope allowing our dentists to give the highest quality of advanced dental care. Our Chess House family now consists of 9 dentists, 2 visiting specialists, 6 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and 1 treatment co-ordinator and practice manager. The ethos of the practice remains the same; providing the best quality of care and making the patients feel at home in their dental practice.

Dr Yash Ghevaria
Principal Dentist & Clinical Director

Dentistry has always been Yash's first love; and he is often known to eat, sleep, breathe dentistry. Upon taking over the practice from Dr. Patel in 2017, patients instantly took a liking to him and his gentle demeanour.
Patients often recommend their friends and family to see Yash, due to his calm mannerism making patients feel extremely at ease. He is always reading and enrolling in new courses to fulfill his ambition to further his dental knowledge. It is this quality that also makes him a great foundation dentist trainer; his trainees love learning new techniques and procedures from him. He is keenly interested in Restorative Dentistry and is currently enrolled in courses to tackle tooth-wear and full mouth rehabilitation. He has completed the UK-Brazil residency course from the Perio-Implant International and Advanced Horizontal and Vertical Bone and Soft Tissue Regeneration by ASHA and is currently being mentored by Dr. Selveraj Balaji. He adores his little girl, who is his absolute world. Outside of dentistry, his passion lies in cricket and he plays every weekend for a local club.
Dr Shivika Shah
Principal Dentist & Invisalign Lead

Shivika (or Shiv as fondly called by everyone) is the Co-Principal and Clinical Director along with Yash. She is a compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated professional with a desire to offer her patients the best all-round care and make them feel at ease.
Shivika had always been keenly interested in Orthodontics, and this fuelled her desire to become a leading Invisalign provider in Chesham. She is currently a Platinum Invisalign provider and has successfully treated over 100s of patients to achieve their desired smile. She keeps herself abreast with the latest technology, always pushing herself to get familiar with the new innovations in dentistry. She is also a foundation dentist trainer and enjoys teaching young budding dentists the regulations of working within the NHS. They look up to her not only for professional advice, but as a friend and mentor to guide them in various aspects of their journey. She is currently completing her PG Cert in Dental Education and has started a year-long Diploma in Clear Aligners with Bolton University to further enhance her clear aligner knowledge. She is a mother to an adorable toddler and enjoys spending time with her. She enjoys traveling, reading, dancing, and eating out.
Dr Manesh Patel

Manesh qualified from Guys Hospital in 1993, providing high-quality dentistry for over 20 years with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry.
He has recently exited the program with a distinction award for the Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry from the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital. He continues to restore implants in conjunction with a multidisciplinary approach including orthodontics, oral surgery, and cosmetic dentistry. He is currently pursuing a 3 year-long MSc in Endodontics. His future plans are to explore the innovations of digital dentistry as part of making the dental experience more pleasurable for many people, especially with the stigma of phobia attached to dentistry. To this day he strives to achieve perfection within his profession by helping to train professionals complimentary to dentistry.
Dr Hirra Kirmani

Hirra has a reputation for her calm and gentle manner, often putting nervous patients at ease.
With a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, she keeps up to date with the latest techniques by attending regular courses and training. Hirra is a keen advocate for minimally invasive methods to help her patients achieve their dream smile.
Dr Shivani Shingadia

Shivani qualified from Cardiff University School of Dentistry. She is a committed dentist and works with her patients to involve them in their treatment journey every step of the way.
She completed her foundation training in Berkshire, where she was fortunate to complete a range of complex treatments for many patients. She provides a variety of treatments, whilst ensuring that they have an enjoyable experience at the dentist, by creating a welcoming and friendly environment. She also works especially well with patients who are anxious to come to the dentist, by helping them overcome their fears and feel more comfortable. Outside of work Shivani's passion is dancing. She invests a lot of time in training and fitness. She also takes time out to give back to the community such as her recent dental charity trip to Honduras where she offered her service as well as dental health education to the rural community.

Kewal is our resident Endodontist. His expertise allows him to deal with teeth that have complex endodontic (root canal related) problems, meaning he can save teeth that may otherwise need to be extracted.
He has extensive experience in providing root canal treatment and re-treatment, apical surgery and dealing with traumatic injuries to the teeth. His compassionate approach ensures an excellent patient experience. After graduating from the prestigious University of Bristol in 2005, Kewal went on to complete the Royal College of Surgeons (England) Membership examinations in 2007. Kewal is one of the few dentists to be awarded a specialist training position in endodontics at Guy’s and King’s College Dental Institute where he successfully completed 4 years of advance training and passed all examinations with distinction. He was also awarded the Membership in Endodontics by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, which is recognised as the highest qualification in the field. He currently divides his time between St Georges Hospital (as a Restorative Specialty Dentist) and private referral practices.

Dr. Balaji worked in Maxillofacial units in the UK for several years and gained substantial experience in surgical dentistry. In addition to family and general dentistry, he is renowned locally for his experience and skill in implantology, sinus grafting, and bone augmentation work.
As an Implant Dentist with over 10 years of experience, Dr. Balaji has placed more than 2,000 implants and has devoted much of his dental career to implantology. Since he started his implant career his commitment and devotion to develop his skills has led him to travel around the world and work with world-renowned implant surgeons. He completed his TMJ and Occlusion Curriculum with Peter Dawson in the USA; Implant Curriculum with Dr. Hilt Tatum, MFDS RCPS in Glasgow, MFDS RCS in Edinburgh, LDSRCS in London; Full Curriculum of Autogenous Bone Grating Technique with Prof F Khoury in Germany; and Advanced Surgical Master Curriculum Regenerative Implant Dentistry with Istvan Urban in Budapest. As a mentor in Dentsply Implants Dr. Balaji leads study clubs for other dentists and is also an experienced speaker and lecturer. He is a pioneer in bone and soft tissue grafting, one of few in the UK. Shakeel qualified in 2011 as a dental hygienist in Cardiff and also holds a Master's degree in Microbiology / Oral Microbiology.
He has a great interest in educating and providing oral care, oral dietary, oral hygiene advice, and smoking cessation. Shakeel as part of his treatments will carry out a full scale and polish, Root Surface Debridement RSD, informs patients of potential dental ailments, refers patients back to the dentist when required, and provides teeth whitening if requested. Shakeel specialises in treating patients with gingivitis and periodontitis. He has a very approachable manner and is enthusiastic when helping children and adults with their dental hygiene and oral hygiene plans.

I consider myself extremely lucky to have such a professional dental practice in my hometown.
